In preparation for the upcoming NASA SE Turn 7 Gurl memorial track event at Road Atlanta I decided to get a handle on my roll.
I chose the H & R springs made in Germany for the modest 1.2″ lowering. A lot of people use the Eibach’s. But, they are getting harder to find for the SR. The installation went well other than tweaking my back and galling my spring compressors. Those compressors have been with me for almost two decades! they have put on scores of springs before giving up the ghost on this install. The one concern I had was the appearance of the rear springs. They looked narrower and taller. That seemed counter logical. I had to send an email to double check that they sent the right set. The problem being that I sent the email after installing the front. Well I got impatient and went ahead and installed them on the back. I was a little disappointed that it only lowered the back 3/4″. We’ll see if that is enough. The good news is that I had them on and the old sway bar out before the new sway bar arrived.
I hope the -1° camber with lower center of gravitiy, stiffer H&R springs, and larger and better engineered Stillen sway bar will help me to be more competitive. Road Atlanta next week is the first test. I won’t learn much about the difference as it is my first trip to RA. We’ll see if she feels better at speed through RAs iconic esses. On a side note-I picked up some 05 Infinity G35 18×9 alloys to put track tires on. But, I don’t think I will have the cheddar to buy the tires just yet. Also, there don’t seem to be many 275/40R18 UTQG 200 used tires out there. I found one in all of Birmingham.
